How to Use the Digital Stamp?

A typical Digital Stamp looks as under.

These stamps are sold as pre printed stationery at a nominal cost. They can be bought from any designated stamp vendors either in single or in bundles of 5 or 10.

The stationery will have a "Printed Serial Number" on the top right hand corner and the bottom left hand corner. This number will be unique to the instrument and any particulars of the instrument can be verified using this number through the query box in this site or through an interactive voice response system over a telephone.

When bought from the market, the stamp will have "Zero Value".

Any time after purchase, the buyer can log on to this website and "Register" his name and address. The Buyer can also assign a password at this stage so that any further transaction is locked to the entry of the password. Once the name and address of the buyer is registered, it cannot be changed later.

On submission of the registration particulars, the buyer will be given a transaction ID which he has to enter in the space provided for "Buyer's ID" on the instrument.

Further to the registration of the purchaser's name, the value of the Stamp can be digitally imprinted by logging on to the site and making an online credit card payment. Once the payment is completed, a transaction ID will be issued in confirmation which has to be entered by the buyer in the space provided for the purpose on the instrument.

Entering of the transaction numbers on the instrument is only for ready reference and non entry will not invalidate the transaction.

Once a Stamp has been reigistered   and value imprinted, it can be affixed on any document.

Stamping of a document will be considered valid only if the usage is reported within 48 hours of the execution of the document. Reporting of usage of the Digital Stamp is equivalent to "Cancellation" of a Stamp in the traditional adhesive Stamp system.

Reporting of usage of a Stamp can be done either by the buyer or any other contracting party and on submission of the usage report, a Usage transaction ID will be issued to be entered in the appropriate place on the instrument.

In case of any error, a Usage Error transaction ID will be issued for further follow up.
