The Forum will act as a watch dog
on the Cyber Law regulations with special reference to India. This would
include gathering of opinions on the regulations from time to time and
bringing it to the attention of the law makers.
The forum will elect representatives
to a "Cyber Regulations Watchdog Committee" through a process of online
election from registered members. After a critical number of members are
registered, a nomination process would be initiated to identify a short
list of candidates from different fields. On receiving their consents,
the election would be conducted if required through an appropriate
process of online voting. The ICANN Atlarge membership model would be adopted
for this purpose.
This body of representatives will
be like a "Shadow CRAC" and will receive suggestions from the community
and liase with the authorities.
Any cases of administrative excesses
brought to its notice will also be referred to appropriate authorities
as found necessary.
We request Netizens to not only
become members without fail, but also encourage eminent personalities from
the community to become members and consent being nominated to the representative
body.
We request each member to spread
word through their friend's circles to enrol as many members as possible
quickly so that the next level of the election process can be initiated.
Most of the
activities of the Committee would be restricted to online interactions
through e-mails or chat sessions. A limited level of offline interaction is expected with the Ministry and the officials in Delhi. At other places
the members may organize offline activities of common interest such as organizing talks etc. For this purpose the forum can in due course establish local chapters. However all activities will be
through voluntary participation and the services rendered will be on a honorary basis.
