EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES: 1) Member of social welfare projects at school and college. Participated in remedial teaching , Blind welfare etc. Helped organize Literacy Mela at Springdales school, Pusa Road, New Delhi.(1993-94). 2) Won 3rd prize among 32 teams in Inter-collegiate quiz QUEST’98 organised by UGC in collaboration with Mass communication Research Center , Jamia Millia Islamia. Presented a topic paper on ”Avian Flight mechanism” which was telecast on the countrywide classroom 3) Won “Best team “ prize in Hindu College paper presentation contest on “Water Pollution in Delhi” in 1999 and won “Best interjector” prize. 4) Won several prizes in debates , essay writing competitions like Korean Embassy etc during undergraduate years .Awarded Best all-rounder prize for year 1998-99 by Sh .Montek Singh Ahluwalia, erstwhile economic adviser, GoI. 5) Also short-listed for 3rd English presentation contest in 1999 to present topic on Ecology and Biodiversity issues at Daaiichi University, Fukuoaka Prefecture, Japan.> 6) Won 2nd prize in CSR Mr. Super Brain awards ’99 (finals held at Ashoka Hotel, Delhi. The judges included eminent personalities like J. P.B Sawant, erstwhile Chair person, Press Council of India and Professor Upendra Baxi , HOD , University of Warwick etc .Got essay titled ”Too many holidays make us a nation of work shirkers” published in August’99 issue.(Won 1st prize for list of entries for the month from 3000 entries in preliminary rounds .) 7) Participated in a workshop on Advocacy skills and training organized by the British Council in Feb’ 2000.Speakers included eminent barristers from United Kingdom.> 8) Participated in various Lok Adaalats at the court of ACMM Mrs . Sangeeta Dhingra Sehgal dealing with cases of grievous hurt and Motor accident claims at Tis Hazari courts and Patiala House courts in 2001. 9) Participated in NHRC Sponsored Tihar Bail and Litigational aid services project in 2001.Also published a write –up” titled “My journeys through Judicial conscience” in a publication released by J. Venkata Chelliah. 10) MOOT COURTS : Selected as National Moot court panelist for year 2002-03.Participated in 4th Raj Anand Intellectual property rights Moot court as speaker. Participated in Stetson’s Moot Court (India) rounds at Chennai during September 2002 as researcher. Participated in selection process of Phillip C. Jessup Moot court on Cyber law related problems and issues . 11) Participated in NCRWC Workshop on Constitutional reform and presented a paper on “Article 356:A Constitutional Chameleon”(January 2001). 12) Presented a paper on “DIGITAL LIBERTARIANISM vs. LEGAL REALISM: A “FIRST AMENDMENT “SPECIFIC MEDIUM ANALYSIS ISSUES Dealing with freedom of speech as redefined in Cyberspace towards Diploma in Cyber Law (2002). 13) Currently completed the Diploma in International Trade and Business law at Indian Society of International Law, New-Delhi dealing with Energy purchase agreements , Oil exploration and Petroleum sharing contracts, Joint ventures, Build operate transfer infrastructure projects etc. Also submitting 3 term papers on –Joint ventures, TRIPS and impact on Developing countries, the role of UNICTRAL In harmonising trade Law vis a-vis E-Commerce.(2002-03) 13) Undertook practical training in Final year under Mr. Aman Hingorani, Supreme court Lawyer and Mr. B .D Kaushik , Tis Hazari for a period of two months .(2002) 14) Wrote official expression of interest for induction as Research Associate on Commission on Technology Enabled judiciary to Hon’ble Chief Justice of India and Convener, Ministry of Information Technology. (2003). 15) Currently pursuing Industry Diploma in Biotechnology Intellectual property Rights Management (Part-time) from Bioinformatics Institute of India , Noida. It has modules on Drafting specifications related to Biotechnology, IP law and Biotechnology-legal aspects and issues with Case studies of major patent litigations in U.S and details of prior art search systems of classification in various search databases like Derwent , INPADOC, International Patent classification system etc. Detaile module on Biotechnology related law and R&D scenario. WORK EXPERIENCE: 1) Worked on cases in Negotiable Instruments Act, Civil cases and Rent control Act cases under Mr. J.L Khajuria , Advocate , Delhi High Court and District Courts for about 1 year before leaving .(2002-03). 2) Worked with Dr. Abhishek Manu Singhvi , Senior Advocate , Supreme Court , Ex-Additional Solicitor general for about six months . Dealt with and assisted counsel in matters like Nestor Pharmaceuticals, Living Media vs. S.T.R Television case , Mir Bhayandar Municipal Corporation, Christian Medical College besides drafting and settling of writs and Special Leave petitions like Management of Bharat Beedi etc. Also drafted opinions on Company Law i. e appointment of auditors for foreign firm (case brief by M/s Luthra and Luthra associates , Delhi ) etc. 3) Worked in M/s Remfry and Sagar, reputed IP Law Firm as legal retainer in their Patent Department . Dealt with search queries, Substantive queries on legal issues of working and Licencing etc. Dealing with Filing activities with clients like Astra Zeneca , Microsoft corporation, Intel Corporation, Honda Corporation etc. Also dealing with Preliminary and Examination level stage reporting and seeking instructions from clients. (Heading 7 secretarial staff and assisting 2 Senior patent attorneys and Partners in the firm with client relationship management . ) PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES CURRENTLY COMPLETED /PURSUED: Ø Currently in charge for processing 6000 Request for examination and response level reporting to the Controller of Patents (achieved a target of 1000 in a month alone itself.)Completed the task in 2 ½ months with a team of 2 members. Ø Currently dealing with First Examination level reporting and response filing etc. for about 60 patent applications / per month. Ø Preparing responses and query opinions for firms like Astrazeneca, Microsoft, Ericsson , Pfizer etc. Ø Appearing for Final date cases before the Examiner and Controller and securing acceptance and finalisation. Dealing with 70 final date cases /per month. Ø Appeared for hearing before Controller in a matter of radio communications system patent where algorithm like methods are involved. 4) Currently practising as IP Associate (Patents) in renowned firm , Fox Mandal. Dealt with client regarding patent applications on software with Qualcomm, Software , telecom major in U.S.A. Presented “A primer on Software IP protection : A comparative perspective” as part of discussions on profile of patent applications. Provided legal and practice-based opinion–cum feasibility of Patents on Software in India. 5) Also presented an introductory module at HCL Informatics India, NOIDA on Software Patenting and related aspects of Indian Patent practice , drafting of claims , issues pertinent to prosecution thereof before technical personnel. 6) Carrying out an infringement/litigation level search for registered Trademarks for an American client. 7) Assisting Senior Associate with ICRA.org copyright violation litigation.
