Yet again there is a report of a prestigious Indian site having been
hacked by Pakistani sympathizers. This time it is the home page of the
External Affairs Ministry that has been defaced.
While keeping aside the political aspects of the hacking, one wonders
how Pakistani IT professionals who are not so popular as Indians in the
global Job market capable of successfully hacking Indian sites repeatedly?
Are they more skilled? If so NASSCOM has to worry about the future of Indian
IT industry and job opportunities for our professionals?
Or, is it a case of "Determination for a Cause" that has diverted the
best Pakistani minds towards terrorism and hacking?. It is a pity that
the best brains are being wasted for a cause which has very little economic
significance for those who are laying down their lives as terrorists or
laying down their professional careers as Cyber terrorists.
Do these youngsters know that they are foregoing a million dollar employment
for their skills for the misplaced enthusiasm? Or if they already have
one, do they kno that they are in the risk of losing it? if they are found out.?
The challenge to the Indian counterparts now is to trace the origin
of these hacking attempts and hold the involved ISP or the Country vicariously responsible
for a war on Indian Cyber space and leverage the legal rights in this regard
to book the criminals if they are outside Pakistan. If they reside in Pakistan,
this is a matter to be taken up with the UN and USA for declaration of Pakistan as a "Cyber Terrorist State".
The USA government which is always sympathetic to the Pakistani terrorism against India should be forced
to co-operate with India in solving this crime as USA itself has been experiencing
a similar problem of late from China!.
Simultaneously, we need to think about the "Cyber Security Policy" for
India and how to reduce such attacks.
I call upon the Cyber soldiers to send in their recommendations so that
the Cyber Police will have something interesting to work on rather than
rounding up Cyber cafe owners and High school students.
