The history of Cyber Laws in India is only a few years old.
The land mark legislation, the information Technology Act-2000 was tabled as a
bill in the Parliament in December 1999, passed in May 2000 and notified in
October 2000.
Naavi has become a part of this history with his efforts on
disseminating Cyber Law related information to the public through his web site
www.naavi.org since mid 1999. He further
stepped up his campaign by releasing his book "Cyber Laws for Every Netizen in
India" in December 1999, to coincide with the presentation of the Information
Technology Bill in the Parliament. This was the first book on the subject to
be released in India. As a primer on the subject and meant for general
reading, the Book was successful though its distribution was very limited.
Over the last two years, Naavi has emerged as the principal
Cyber Law Educationist in the Country and his virtual college
www.cyberlawcollege.com has made
rapid strides of its own in providing structured education in Cyber Laws to
E-Commerce professionals, Lawyers and Bankers.
With the additional experience gained over this formative
years for Cyber Law Education in the country, and collating the developments
that has taken place within India and abroad, Naavi is now ready to release
his second book shortly.
This book will perhaps hit the market just as the Indian
Cyber Law Regime reaches another turning point, namely the enactment of
the Communication Convergence Act.
Keeping the tradition of Naavi, the Book will be written
with the common man in mind but will have complete coverage of the Indian
Legal provisions that relate to Cyber Crimes. Provisions of ITA-2000 will be
discussed in full detail which will be of great assistance to legal
practitioners and Law enforcement Authorities. The Book will also be a guide
to professionals in Companies and E-Governance officials.
If you are an interested student of Cyber Law and Cyber
Crime, watch out for the announcement of the release date.
